Kick off (2025)

Kick off (2025)

Sunday 12 January 2025

2025 started off with the spectacular fireworks display. The holiday season here in Sydney almost come to an end with a stunning display of fireworks in the Harbour Bridge. The hype for the fireworks was so insane that crowds started to secure the best spots at least 12-18 hours before the show- I’d vouch it was actually worth an entire day of waiting. Although I couldn’t get the prime spots as I went around evening, I could get a good spot with harbour views.

I also learnt something called ‘Pyrotechnics’ - the science and art of creating visual and audible effects using chemical reactions

January 1st begins here with a holiday and there’s no rush to a “perfect start of the year’. This is something that I have observed here in Sydney and there's not much rush to anything. People like to have a balance and lead a good memorable and healthy lifestyle—more on that in a different blog. It was refreshing after a long-fun night to start the new year with a refreshing run by the Backwattle bay.

As always with the new year comes new goals, new milestones. This time my primary goal is to focus even more on work and fitness. With the last 6 months being the most consistent in terms of fitness and habit management, it wasn't a 100%.

Got the WHOOP band and have been using it since the last week of December. It is pretty neat with the design and I have been tracking some of my body functions. Let's just say that it needs some work.

And these are some of the things I look forward to work on:

  • Fixing sleep schedule 😴

  • All in on healthy eating 🥗

  • More physical activities and sports 🏃‍♂️

  • Mindful screen time 📵

A major setback is that by the end of second week I'm shifting houses, and its going to be stressful. There's gonna be a whole new cycle of 'settling in' 😮‍💨 Although I really loved the space and surrounding I was in, the fact that living close to the city and the uni comes at a cost and with the lease coming to an end, I decided to move out.

However I'm gonna miss that space I had. It was a lovely neighborhood. Calm, serene with book stores, cafes that served amazing coffee, beautiful streets, parks, vintage cars, beautiful sunsets, close to the harbor and a lovely set of people. Every Saturday I used to go for an late evening run and wind up the day with the fireworks show at the Darling Harbour. I'll surely miss all of that.

Even more I'm excited with the progress of some of my personal projects that I can't wait to share. Mindscapes is one of them. The thought of mindscapes came in the first week of January and this was quick weekend execution.

The last year was a lot of personal development for me. The practicality of staying outside the comfort zone really helped with gaining confidence and patience. Although I have moved cities before, moving to Sydney was a significant change. Perspectives on life, professional work and career evolved, interacted with some of the many inspiring humans, lot of learning happened through experience, priorities got set in place. All of this provided clarity. Yes it was overwhelming at first, but with time it got easier.

All I look forward to this year is execution 🚀
