Writing
Sunday 5 January 2025
2022 was when I started note-taking very frequently. Midway I read this book — ‘Building a Second Brain, which made me set up a system for documenting my thoughts, ideas, learnings, design, health, life and so on. This practice evolved into a habit over time, and whenever I failed to note down something important, it felt uneasy, as if things were falling apart. A part of it wasn't even digital; I used numerous notebooks, papers, sticky notes, and even tissues from restaurants and cafes. What started as a simple note-taking task grew into a non-negotiable habit and a system built around it. 2024 brought many learnings and changes, but the one thing that didn’t change was my practice of writing down things.
As I reflected back at the year's end of 2024, I realized that much of this writing could have been published somewhere. There were even pieces I had started writing with the intention of publishing but that didn't happen for reasons I don’t even remember.
2024 also brought significant changes — moved cities multiple times, met, interacted with, and worked alongside people I admire, eventually taking a big leap and moving to Sydney for my master's program. During this time, I wrote, took pictures, shot videos, created art, and worked on projects, but never really shared any of it.
One reason for this is my tendency to overthink a lot about the scenes after putting something out there and sometimes, the process of creation itself was satisfying enough, and keeping it to myself was enjoyable. It was simply fun that way.
I've always dreamed of having a space filled with everything I love—a semi-brutalist environment surrounded by items that bring me joy through my hobbies and interests. Being a designer here in Sydney, I do a lot of things beyond design, and with my ongoing masters program I get to experiment with a lot of stuff, be it design, tech or something else that I'm curious about, for which the results are uncertain, but there sure is progress.
Mindscapes is a digital attempt to this concept—a corner for my thoughts, experiments, and ideas about life, design, tech, hobbies, and everything that sparks my curiosity. It's a work in progress that I can call my own.
👋 Say hi, I'd love to talk
